The sun’s out, we’ve just enjoyed the year’s most glorious weekend and there’s a long four days of feasting, family time and chocolatey excess ahead! The bluebells are coming up, the lambs are in the fields and the air is filled with the scent of blossom, wild garlic and freshly cut grass. Winter is most definitely behind us.
In Egerton, our kitchen has been busy creating new Spring menus packed with seasonal ingredients and fresh flavours. To get your taste buds tingling – think lamb, freshly smoked mackerel, courgettes, orange blossom and fresh soft herbs.
If it’s tea you’re looking for, we’re now open from 9am, so you can wake up to the day with coffee, biscuits and pastries at The Barrow House. And, as the long warm nights stretch on, from Sunday 23rd April we’ll be open on Sunday evenings until 10pm with the kitchen open until 9pm.
Meanwhile, on Fridays, we’ve introduced after-school dinners filled with food, fun and games. Between 4–6pm children under 10 can tuck into any main and pud with a glass of orange or apple juice for just £7.
There’s lots more fun ahead and we’ve put together a calendar which we hope you’ll want to check out:
1. FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE
FORTNIGHTLY FRIDAY NIGHTS
Friday 28th April / Fred Clark
Friday 12th May / Kelly Bourne
Friday 26th May / Nick Eve
Friday 9th June / Frankie Swain
2. EASTER SUNDAY
SUNDAY 16 APRIL
Bring the family together this Easter at The Barrow House for a real spring celebration. On Sunday morning, the Easter bunny will be hiding lots of chocolatey treats around the pub for an egg hunt at 11am.
Then, why not join us for an ‘all day Easter lunch’ until 6pm? Alongside our spring menu, we’ll be serving a delicious roast of local lamb and a ridiculously good hot cross bun bread & butter pudding for just £20.
If you haven’t made plans for Sunday, there may still be a spot for you in our Dining Room – but book soon!
Of course, no Easter would be complete without hot cross buns, so we’ll be serving them – smothered in creamy South Downs butter – all weekend.
3. QUIZ NIGHT
SUNDAY 23 APRIL
Calling all smarty pints and know-it-ales! Pit your wits against friends and foes at the first ever Barrow House Brainiacs pub quiz on Sunday 23rd April.
Get your team together and we’ll provide light snacks. It’s only £1 per person to enter so come along for five challenging rounds and great prizes. Rock up on the night or contact email@example.com to book a table.
4. MAY DAY
MONDAY 1 MAY
On Monday 1 May, the Headcorn Morris Men will be leading us into dance at 12pm. Get your handkerchiefs ready and don’t miss out on the May Day merriment!
5. EGERTON MUSIC FESTIVAL
We are so looking forward to our first Egerton Musical Festival this summer and we’re delighted to be a part of it. Do check out the website to learn about everything that’s going on and book tickets.
From Wednesday 28th June to Saturday 1st July, we’ll be offering a special Egerton Music Festival menu between 5–7pm. Enjoy two delicious courses in our Dining Room for £12 or three for £15 and we’ll make sure you get to the concert on time. But please book ahead to ensure we have a table for you.
On the closing day, Sunday 2nd July, we hope you’ll join us at the pub for a fun-packed day of family-friendly musical fun:
6. BE OUR GUEST
SPRING & SUMMER
Egerton is such a lovely village and it really is the perfect place for a family day out or weekend break, especially during the warmer months, with Leeds Castle and Godinton House and Gardens just a short drive from the pub, as well as some of the area’s renowned local vineyards and breweries. Are you planning a Spring/Summer escape, or in need of something to look forward to? Book now before the end of May quoting SPRING2017, and we’ll treat you to a second night as our guest.*
Our three beautiful bedrooms all have luxurious en suite bathrooms and enormous beds to ensure the most comfortable overnight stay or relaxing weekend getaway. Each room has a distinct personality, but they share in common space and light with large windows looking onto the village and valley.
If you had a chance to grab the weekend papers a few weeks ago, you might have spotted The Barrow House on the back page of the Sunday Telegraph’s travel section. Hotel guru Fiona Duncan visited in February for her weekly feature on the best places to stay in Britain and Ireland and we’re so thrilled to be included.
*This offer is valid for bookings made until 31 May 2017 for stays until 31 December 2017
