With winter most certainly still upon us, we’re working hard to make sure that time skips on to spring just as soon as it can. We’ve lined up some midwinter treats to brighten grey days! And here are six good reasons to brave the cold and venture over to The Barrow House this season:
1. WINTER WARMER SET MENU
JANUARY TO MARCH – WEEKDAY LUNCHTIMES
We think one of the best things about winter is finding delicious ingredients that warm us from the inside out. We hope you’ll take comfort in our Winter Warmer Set Menu – it’s packed with flavour and at £12 for two courses and £15 for three, we hope it gives you many reasons to stop by.
If you’re planning to join us for lunch or dinner, don’t forget you can book online for parties of less than ten at www.thebarrowhouse.co.uk.
2. HUNGRY FOR LOVE… VALENTINE’S DAY
SATURDAY 11 FEBRUARY & TUESDAY 14 FEBRUARY
We’re laying on a four-course feast of love, packed with indulgent delights, in our Dining Room this Valentine’s Day. From extravagant Avruga caviar to juicy rib-eye steak and a decadent apple, pecan and ginger crumble, there’ll be no one left hungry for love…
Celebrate the special date early on Saturday 11 February, or join us on Sunday 14 February for Valentine’s evening when it’s about more than just the food of love… We’ve got the music too: harpist Amy Turk will be joining us to perform her own arrangements of love songs, from the Beach Boys to Britney.
If you’re really in the mood for love, we’ll also be serving a sparkling selection of fizz by the glass. Or why not take advantage of our off-season midweek room rates and book a romantic night away?
3. All ABOARD! THE EGERTON PLAYERS PRESENT THE RAILWAY CHILDREN PRE-THEATRE MENU AT THE BARROW HOUSE
THURSDAY 16 TO SATURDAY 18 FEBRUARY
Don’t miss the Egerton Players’ latest production this month in the Millennium Hall. The Railway Children, A Musical is steaming towards the village.
Why not make an evening of it and book a pre-theatre dinner with us? We’ll be offering our Winter Warmer Menu between 5.30 and 7pm. Tickets for the production are available to purchase at The Barrow House too!
4. FRIDAY NIGHT FUN WITH LIVE MUSIC
FRIDAY 24 FEBRUARY 8PM
Live solo acoustic artist Kelly Bourne will be joining us on Friday 24 February. Kelly’s voice brings warmth to brighten the darkest of days! Join us in the bar or book a table for dinner.
5. SPRING MENUS – SPRING / SUMMER OPENING TIMES
FROM MONDAY 6 MARCH
On Monday 6 March we will be launching our Spring Menu at The Barrow House, packed with seasonal ingredients. We’re keeping the old favourites, but lightening up some of the winter comforts with fresh spring flavours. Think lamb, freshly smoked mackerel, courgettes, orange blossom and fresh soft herbs.
From Monday 6 March we’ll also be opening from 9am – do come and join us for coffee or tea, perhaps with a biscuit or piece of cake. For those wanting more than that, there’ll be hearty breakfasts too.
6. MOTHERING SUNDAY
SUNDAY 26 MARCH
On Mothering Sunday, we’ll be serving lunch in our Dining Room from 12–6pm. The special menu will include a delicious roast of spring lamb and a pretty posy of flowers for the lady of the day to take home with her. For smaller tummies, there will be a mini menu with baby portions of big favourites. So bring the family together and celebrate at The Barrow House! Two courses with flowers, coffee & chocolates for £28, three courses with flowers, coffee and chocolates for £35. Tables are available to book now and the final menu will be published on our website.
